Vraiment Memphré

Eureka! The MRC de Memphrémagog launched “Memphrémagog Detours” in June 2024. This web-based tool is designed to help you take it slow, admire the scenery and (re)discover the region on foot, by bike or by car.

It’s a way of shaking things up and giving new life to the “Memphrémagog… Vraiment” initiative, which was introduced in fall 2018. The “Vraiment Memphré‍” (Truly Memphré) label was intended to promote the region through a focus on its cultural assets and unique characteristics.

Economic Summit

The MRC de Memphrémagog took part in an economic summit to discuss the creation of a regional identity for the benefit of residents and their communities.

Process Approval

The Administrative Board approved the process for defining a regional identity. Specifically, the MRC de Memphrémagog committed to adopting a regional identity aligned with following three objectives:

  • Promoting a sense of pride among residents, employees, businesspeople, craftspeople and vacationers.
  • Showcasing the region’s competitive advantages with a view to attracting tourists, businesses and job seekers.
  • Highlighting the attractions, products and services capable of driving economic and tourism development.

Press Conference

The MRC Memphrémagog organized a press conference to launch a regional branding process designed to promote economic and tourism development within its borders.

Survey

Residents, employees and visitors were invited to complete a survey on their perceptions of the region. A total of 560 people, spread across five different age groups, responded to the survey.

Workshops

The MRC de Memphrémagog invited the public to attend one of two workshops consisting of in-depth discussions on the results of the survey conducted in December 2017. Held at the Estrimont Hotel, these workshops made it possible to establish and validate a framework for the regional identity.

Data Analysis

Based on the data gathered over the previous months, the MRC de Memphrémagog was able to identify seven main pillars of the region’s distinctiveness. These would serve as the basis for a four-year promotional strategy.

  • Nature and Landscapes
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Dining and Local Delicacies
  • History and Heritage
  • Arts and Culture
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Sports and Recreation

The practical implementation of the branding strategy would involve creating a website, publishing a magazine, hiring ambassadors, etc.

Official Launch

A public event was held to unveil the branding strategy designed to showcase all the Memphremagog region has to offer.

Information Session and Discussion

Local stakeholders were invited to take part in an information session and discussion on becoming ambassadors for the region. Facilitators introduced the different tools available to ambassadors.

“Vraiment Memphré” Campaign Workshops

Workshops were organized in several municipalities with the aim of encouraging stakeholders to participate in the “Vraiment Memphré” campaign and make it their own.

The MRC distributed the very first issue of its magazine, titled "Memphrémagog... Vraiment."

Distribution of “Vraiment” Stickers

The Memphrémagog Chamber of Commerce threw its weight behind the MRC de Memphrémagog’s efforts to develop a regional identity. The organization provided its members with slogan stickers playing on the word “vraiment” (truly).

Second edition of the magazine

After distributing 22,000 copies of its magazine "Memphrémagog... Vraiment", the MRC is sharing its second issue.
