Itinerary
Located in the heart of Stanstead, Auberge Le Sunshine is the place to stop for local produce and home-cooked meals. Terrines, charcuterie, cheese, pastries, beer, wine, coffee, pizza, entrée salads and sandwiches are just a few of the menu items that will help you put together the perfect picnic. Take the time to discover all the products hidden in the corners of the café-bistro. You’ll leave Auberge Le Sunshine with a smile on your face and a basket full of the best that the Eastern Townships have to offer!
Add some farm-fresh local organic produce to your shopping basket! A small-scale producer, Granite Farm 1981 operates a self-service stand where you can buy organic produce seven days a week while in season. Available vegetables vary over the course of the growing season, starting with leafy greens. Buy tomatoes, turnips, kale and more! In keeping with the farm’s motto, “Here, we grow art and carrots,” summer visitors can take an unguided tour of the property and view the outdoor art installation(s). A treat for more than just your tastebuds!
Now it’s time to sit down and eat. Located near the Canada-US border, Weir Memorial Park and its public beach provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The extensive facilities include a children’s playground, watercraft storage and a boat ramp.
While a meal might seem like a great way to wrap up the day, the fun is only just getting started! On the way back to Magog, avoid the highway so you can enjoy a more scenic journey. Take in the wonderful views of Harvey Bay from either side of Cedarville Road.
Can’t get enough of the beautiful landscapes and hidden gems? The MRC de Memphrémagog has you covered! South of Georgeville, the road back to Magog also takes you past the Elephant Barn. Said to have been decorated in 1933 in honour of Elephant Mountain, the barn currently serves as an art gallery (under renovation) and an art studio.
