This postcard-perfect journey begins on Des Pères Road in Magog. Perched high above Lake Memphremagog, the route showcases beautiful shorelines that stretch for miles and miles.
Next, take Nicholas-Austin Road toward the Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac. This iconic structure blends into its natural surroundings as seamlessly as a cathedral merges with the city skyline. The Benedictine monks who call the abbey home lead a life of contemplation focused on prayer, work and brotherhood. They hold services featuring Gregorian chants and operate a shop selling cheese, cider, apple butter and other products—all made on site. The orchards are open to the public during apple season.
Potton Township was created through the amalgamation of several smaller municipalities. Its territory covers the hamlets of Dunkin, Highwater, Knowlton’s Landing, Leadville and Vale Perkins, as well as the village of Mansonville. Whatever the season, these tiny communities will charm visitors in search of unrivalled views.

This area serves as the gateway to Owl’s Head Mountain, whose slopes have been welcoming skiers for more than a century, The mountain also provides breathtaking views of Lake Memphremagog.
Along a sloping section of the road, you’ll come across Jewett’s General Store. A throwback to another era, the shop caries a range of local products.
Vale Perkins Road continues on to Mansonville, a typical Eastern Townships Loyalist village. It’s home to several important examples of architectural heritage, including Protestant churches.
Side roads lead to a succession of rural landscapes, each more impressive and serene than the last.
